a.  BE AWARE: My Jeep was robbed at Lazy Daze on Sunday afternoon in the parking lot 50 feet from where I was sitting.. Thieves slipped in my driver door and took my car keys, house keys and a swiss army knife in center console and loose change…  Lock your doors 100% of the time  (unsigned)

b.  The new gas station will give you a $7000 pesos coupon if you figure that their pump is not giving you full Liters. Keep track of your gas gauge…. if you notice that your gauge didn’t move as it usually does when you put a certain amount of gas, ask them to test the pump. If the test says that the pump is giving less gas than what it should…. they will give you a $7000pesos gas coupon!!!.   Confirmed information. c.  CAPSFORCANCERBAJA has had a very successful year. Our number of volunteers has grown. We  made in 2018, 1198 caps, 95 scarves, 118 prs of booties, 109 blankets. Thanks to the volunteers for their time and talent.Thanks to all those generous folks who made donations to our garage sale. b.  ***WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE!*** Can you spare two hours on Saturday January 12 to distribute vital information about spaying and neutering in Los Barriles?  Together, Cortez Rescue, SNAP and Amigos are promoting the importance of spaying and neutering as we face a BIG dog over-population problem. We will be distributing Spanish-language brochures across Los Barriles to promote the importance of neutering pets. This is in advance of the SNAP clinic on January 19.  We will split people into pairs and hand out brochures to households. Because the hotel occupancy of the barrels and buenavista is “Topada” for another event not related to the start of the championship desert series 2019 Championship, it has been determined to change the date of the competition for the weekend of 9 And February 10, delaying a week the start of the serial with the already traditional race “The Barrels East Cape 300”.
Probaja has always wanted the logistics of runners and equipment to be the most appropriate, and in front of the fact of hotel demand for the end originally planned (2 AND 3 February) this would have complicated a lot, it’s by This, thinking of the teams themselves and their logistics, that we are taking this decision.
Waiting for your understanding, we reiterate the date of the award 2018 for Friday, February 1, at 6:00 pm in the casino bellavista, of La Paz, date that will be perfect for Saturday 2 February the teams take the tour of the first competition of the serial 2019.  Help us share this information, please

a.  Home Security: (1)  Add the Amazon Alexa/Echo products to your security options.  When I leave the house I say: “Alexa, Away Mode”.  The Alexa begins to play a random voice track that simulates people talking with a TV playing in the background.  The Echo Show has the ability to display Wyze Cams and Nest Cams on the screen.  Remember, internet bandwidth can be a limiting factor on live streaming displays.  thecomputerguy@usa.com

(2)  With the increased number of robberies, it’s time to think security cameras. I use a variety and the cheapest with a high degree of reliability are the Wyze Cams with internal recording on a micro SD card. They are not waterproof but can be placed inside the house, in a water free area (under eaves, etc) or even front windows. Mine are programmed to record on motion which makes it easier to locate recorded issues. The SD card can be inserted into a computer for easier reading. The Wyze Cam Pan will actually track motion through 350 degrees. If you have a strong internet, the cameras can provide alert notifications and remote camera access. I use the Wyze Cam Pan from Amazon for $38 and the 64 GB sd card for $12. Wyze Cams can be programmed for shared access.  thecomputerguy@usa.com

a.  Yet another robbery on New Year’s Eve, home near the cemetery, between 6 and 9 PM. They went through all the rooms-took a little money, a charger cord, jewelry box and every key they could find. They tried to get into our Subaru, but with the wrong key and only got it stuck in the door. Because they couldn’t get the car, they left behind the good stuff—TV etc. My advice: Find a truly secure place to hid all of your keys. They pilfered through old purses, hanging baskets, drawers, baskets and even eyeglass cases.

b.  My casa was broken into on New Years Day in Los Barriles- Palo Blanco neighborhood. They ransacked my kitchen, garage, guest casita and laundry room, cut through the metal doors to get in. All my tools, paddle boards and my truck ( 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 blue ) was stolen. They left a mess. Police were notified. b.  Infected Seco Palms:    I, too, had the scale on my palms.  I tried a lot….but what worked was to spray and wash by hand each frond with a solution of dish detergent in water.  Just enough detergent like you would use for washing dishes.  It’s a labor of love, and you may have to do it twice.  After the first time, wait a few days or a week and do it again.  After that, if you can find a good sprayer, you can just spray and not do the hand washing, unless you see a new outbreak.  A master organic gardener told me we have a “plague” in Baja ……so it may return.  But, at the first sight of it, just the spraying, without the hand labor, should be enough.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 2nd and then mark the 1st Wednesday of each month for recycling in El Cardonal where the community comes together to sort and prepare mountains of recyclables for transport to La Paz for processing. You can make a difference. Bring your cardboard, paper, aluminum, metal, and plastic to town between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 and then stay to help out.
