Sacramento, CA.  Virginia was an amazing woman whose intelligence, grace, and wonderful sense of humor touched many lives in Los Barriles. Always dressed to the “nines”, Virginia enjoyed playing Left, Right, Center at Hotel Los Pescadores, dining out all over town, seeing the Baja Shakespeare productions, and attending all our local art and fashion shows.  A celebration honoring Virginia’s life will be held on February 13 at 5:00 pm at her son Fred Wheeler’s property in Colina del Sol (follow the signs). Sad News:  Captain Lee Fenner
March 09, 1942 – January 24, 2020

Born 09 March, 1942 in Bengough Sask, Lee joined the RCAF in 1960.  He trained on Chipmunks and Harvards, and after receiving his wings, flew the C-119 Flying Boxcar, and the C-130 Hercules.  He joined Wardair in 1970, and flew the 747 classic, the DC-10, and the A310.  While with Canadi>n Airlines, he flew the B-737 & A320.   Lee retired early from Canadi>n and spent his last 9 years of professional flying on his beloved 747 classic with Korean Airlines.  Lee was a long-time member of the Abbotsford Flying Club, and a key volunteer with the Abbotsford International Airshow; 25 years as its Air Boss.   For fun Lee flew his Citabria “Buttercup”, and he ferried the Yak 52 and the Harvard for Bud Granley Airshows.  Lee amassed over 40,000 hours of flying time, mostly on the 747.
Lee & Kate spent many summers boating along the coast of BC. In 2002 they built a home in Los Barriles, Baja California Sur, Mexico, where he enjoyed fishing, the Mexican climate, and the local and ex-pat communities.  Lee was a skilled raconteur, and his stories were always entertaining.  Lee is survived by his wife Kate, son Wade, daughters Kelli, Jorja, Shea, and grandchildren.

a. Monday 1/27– 7-8 pm, Venus shines brightly just under a waxing crescent moon before setting in the west. In the SE, the belt of Orion points down to Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, while the second brightest star, Canopus, is far below. At 5:30 am, the Southern Cross is over the mountains to the south. To its left is 3^rd brightest star, Rigil Kentaurus. In the SE, the scorpion constellation is easy to spot from its J-shape and the red star Antares at its heart. Red Mars is just to its left. At 8 and 10 o’clock, about 2-3 finger widths from Shaula, the scorpion’s stinger, are Ptolemy’s and the Butterfly star clusters respectively: use binoculars. By 6am, Jupiter is rising between E and SE (NSE). a.  To everyone who has a FTD contract (Fideicomiso) with Banorte and do not have a number…or other issue.
The most important is that the contract was registered at the registry office (Registro Publico de la Propiedad y Comercio) in La Paz. To find out if it was the first thing is to look on the last page of the contract, a stamp should appear indicating in which volume and under which number and, on what day and year it was registered; along with the contract there should be a page indicating that it was also registered at the land office (Catastro).
Also, Mr. Picket, who was for many years the bank rep. used the services of a certain person who was not at the time a “Notario Publico” but a “corredor publico” who falsely claimed he could do FTD contracts…this is not to be ignored since he was not authorized by the government at that time.

b.  Please beware of credit card fraud. We all know the risks using our cards here. Yet it catches all of us.  I have only used my card at Costco and at our local gas station, Reposol, this year.  Shortly after filling my tank, my card was used to attempt a purchase on line at Target ($342).  I have no other evidence of where the number was obtained but lets say I am less suspicious of Costco.  I am in the process of trying to get a new card sent to me here

a.  Sad News:  Rick Adams, long time part time resident of Santa Maria.  Married to Elfrieda Adams, and father to Rod Adams and wife Danea Adams, passed away peacefully on the drive from the airport to Los Barriles.   Rick enjoyed spending time at Hotel pescadero, Lazy Dayz, and Rancho Pescadero for happy hours.  He spent his spare time fishing, tinkering around the property in Santa Maria, and watching sports.   He will be missed by many but never forgotten. c.  My fideicomiso has no reference number on it and since Odille, Banorte has been unable to locate it even though annually I give them all my receipts and a copy. Recently they hired a person to deal with this issue. I am not alone. Now they will actively pursue creating a number for it in their system. Apparently Jorge Pickett in La Paz created this problem for many Fideicomisos many years ago.

d.  Be careful with the cleaners you buy here in Los Barriles. El Arco sells a pink aluminum cleaner in quart and gallon plastic bottles. It yields amazing results BUT  this stuff contains hydrofluoric acid and is one of the most toxic chemicals to humans as it is absorbed by the skin and even in small quantities is highly dangerous. A burn from hydrofluoric acid needs immediate medical attention and very specific treatment otherwise it can be life threatening. – feelih@gmail.com

You will need your ICloud or Google account information.
