    Lazy Daze is and always has been Los Barriles to Me
    It’s hard to put into words what Lazy Daze has meant—not just to me, but to anyone lucky enough to find their way to that sun-washed corner of Los Barriles.
    For me, Lazy Daze wasn’t just a beach bar. It’s been a ritual. A gathering place. A front-row seat to the Sea of Cortez, where toes sank into sand, tacos were chased with cold cervezas, and the hours slipped by in stories, laughter, and the soft thud of a chicken shiting in a board… Winner winner.
    I made friends there. I fell in love with Baja life there. I found pieces of myself I didn’t even know I’d lost.
    Now that it’s closing, it feels like the end of a chapter I wasn’t ready to finish. The kind of chapter you re-read again and again in your mind, even after the page has turned.
    So here’s to the Teo and all the wonderful servers that have worked there, the dogs, the sunsets, and the quiet magic of Lazy Daze.
    You weren’t just a place.
    You were the heart of it all.
    And you’ll always be part of mine.

According to a post on Talk Baja; if you have a U.S. dollar account at Intercam you have until the 17th of July to go in and request they exchange the dollar account to a pesos account. Some folks are opening accounts at different banks. Wise online transfer will not send pesos to Intercam at all. Wise will transfer to BBVA, but you must have an account). Remitly online transfer will send pesos for in-person pickup at BBVA (no account at BBVA required).   1.  To all who contributed to RECYCLING in 2024-25, GRACIAS for a terrific season: tons of trash has been kept out of the landfill, a major contributor to keeping our part of the East Cape clean! Recycling Day is the first Thursday of the month, November through July (maybe August).  Committed volunteers help process the community’s recyclable items (cracked pickleballs included) and prepare them for sale locally (earth-friendly cement block with styrofoam is made in Southern Baja for example) or, with your generous donations, for transport to the recycling center in La Paz.  From La Paz, baled material is shipped to mainland Mexico for transformation into various consumer products.
    East Cape Recycling (https://www.eastcaperecycling.com/) also fundraises with programs like Movie Nights and the Blue Barrel Beach project to help our community.  These additional funds help pay for the “Cursos de Verano,” a three week summer day-camp program free to more than 100 local children, ages 6-12.  Using fun activities and games, volunteers promote environmental education, helping children (and the adults in their lives) understand the importance of protecting the environment, protecting marine life and what the consequences are when our environment becomes polluted.
