Hear Spanish from the mouth of our local librarian, Mary Marquéz, with grammar explained by me, Kay Mundt. It is possible to have fun and learn Spanish at the same time in our relaxed, small class setting. d. If you spend time in Los Barriles, you probably know Ivan Lucero–the Watermelon Man. He often sells watermelons out of the back of his truck on the road into town. He is loved by many in the community for his good cheer and kind heart. On September 4th, Ivan was severely electrocuted. A 2-3-amp current from the high voltage line that serves the pueblo caught his body on fire, causing major internal and external 2nd and 3rd degree burns. He is lucky to be alive, but now has six months of costly, painful recovery ahead of him. It is with a heavy and saddened heart that we have to say goodbye to a very special and dear friend. Doyle Satterlee, age 93, who passed away peacefully today November 3rd. Doyle was a long time resident of Spa Buena Vista where he lived for more than 20 years. Originally from Madras, Oregon, Doyle owned and managed a successful jewelry business. His son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Renee live here in La Ribera and Doyle was so happy to have them close by. A kind and beautiful soul who touched so many lives. What a hole he leaves in all of our hearts. He now is with his beloved wife Dee and we know his heart is now full. We miss you.
