6/12/20:  A letter from the Bisbee Family, “To fish or not to fish?”

To fish or not to fish, that is the question…
A very big hello to you all,

I hope you are doing very well as the world begins to loosen all the restrictions up on everything. Like many of you, my office, house and garage are as clean and organized as they’ve ever been so at least something positive has come out of the past few months.

HOWEVER… I’m now over those domestic duties and it’s time to start thinking about Cabo and fishing!

One thing that is for sure is that the fishing throughout the end of the year is going to be off the charts awesome since there’s been virtually no pressure at all on the fish.

The latest reports from Cabo is that the hotels, restaurants, marina based businesses etc. will be able to open on the 15th, less than a mere week away. The SJD airport has been open during this whole mess, but all flights have been limited and going through the original #1 Terminal. The newer #2 International Terminal that we all usually use is scheduled to re-open on July 1st and all major airlines have committed to begin ramping up their schedules then.

With Cabo now issuing these “firm” dates, it’s time for us to decide on what we’re going to be doing this year. As we’ve been saying all along, both of our October tournaments are etched in stone and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure they’re as great as can be.

This leads me to our East Cape Offshore Tournament topic. For the past months it has been looking like August 4th-8th was going to be just too early to try and pull the tournament off. But the past several days has been crazy with teams contacting us about wanting to fish it. This was a total turn around from what we’d been hearing before, and we’re getting enough of these inquiries right now to make us send you this email.

All of the Los Barriles/East Cape Resorts will be re-opened in July, and the Valdez family has said they’ll be able to provide all their services as before which includes fuel etc.

As many of you have actually been part of, there’s been times in the past that everything was against us all and it looked like there was no way a tournament could happen (2014 Hurricane Odile being the worst I think) and in the end, we all pulled together and got the job or rather the fun done. In our 40 years we’ve never cancelled a tournament and today we’re at one of those pivotal moments again, not because of weather, but because of a damn microscopic bug.

Sooooo, the question is…

If we present the Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament as originally scheduled on August 4th – 8th, will we see you there?

Within the next 4-5 days we need to decide whether to put the East Cape Tournament off until next year or to go full steam ahead so you all can plan accordingly. If we can get a positive reply from enough of you to have the tournament we will confirm this next week and we’ll be off and running! As you can imagine, we really want to have it, but we understand that you’ll want to know that we have enough teams to make it very much worth your while from a prize money standpoint.

If you could please reply to this email letting us know if you will or will not be able to fish the East Cape Tournament this year it’d be great. We will let you all know next week which way we’re going so you’ll have as much time as possible to make your arrangements with 100% confidence.
