DISCUSSIONS – ANSWERS – ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1.   Acclaim Hotel Calgary was a positive experience in every way.  The food was very good and tons of it. The staff were amazing. You may go out for as many walks as you like, and on  your own. Rooms were clean ,anything you need or want is delivered  in less then 5 mins. Airport staff amazing the whole process was fast and dignified ! Any questions feel free to email.  jorykym@gmail.com
  2. The small but mighty ‘Cultivar’ group is growing! We are creating a garden plus after school curriculum called “Learn, Grow, Eat, Go” based on the junior master gardener program from Texas A & M University. We hope to inspire the children in our community to grow and eat their own vegetables. We have talented volunteer folks that bring their unique gardening, design and management skills as well as folks who bring their enthusiasm and are want to help. Julie Marks has committed a piece of property for the Cultivar project. Sten and Susan Thorborg purchased the 25’ x 40’ Cultivar Grow Tunnel. Dave Ahlers is our Project Manager and has designed the garden beds for the growing tunnel and lot layout including outdoor classroom, bathroom and water supply. Fabiola Rodriguez, the deeply knowledgeable Community Liaison and Garden Master for the Costa Palmas Development is our consultant. We want to be ready to grow when the children return to school in the fall following the hot summer months. Now, we need 460 concrete 8” sized blocks for our raised garden beds! Are you building a house? Do you have a relationship with your builder and could ask them to donate blocks? Do you love our community and kids and would simply like to donate? Any or all will be helpful toward our goal. If you are in town, you may drop a peso donation off to the block factory ‘para el Cultivar proyecto’ across the street from Baja’s Awesome Beach Rides. What else do we need to grow our success? Hand tools, rakes, shovels, hoses, garden supplies. You can drop those to Cultivar at East Cape Recycling & Environment Education headquarter at Baja’s Resort at East Cape. Thinking of something bigger? We need a bathroom and have solar planned to operate our watering systems. Please contact Theresa Comber theresa@bajasawesome.com for donations, other questions or want to help? dave@sunlightandtrees.com
