FRIDAY, MARCH 16, 2018 – #2823
Note: My heart, for over 20 years, has been with the EastCapeGuild Scholarship program. I have collected “10ps coins” (or whatever denomination) because it’s a fun way for me to meet people and what better project than sending QUALIFIED students to high school. No high school, no college! The gov’t does NOT pay for high school. So, if you see me around town pop a coin or two or Paul at Plum Loco/Aero Burro has a jar. Thank you! Cheryl and Penelope!

b. **** DOG FOOD BANK! **** ALMA is delighted to launch our DOG FOOD BANK at Homes & Land of Baja! If you are leaving town, or would like to donate food towards needy dogs, please drop it off at the Homes and Land office in the center of town. Full, half empty or containers are all welcome. We are aiming to stockpile enough food to feed the dogs around town in the summer months when many families are low on income and find it difficult to feed their pets – often they end up in ALMA care when all they need is some dog food. Thanks everyone – let’s get this bank filled! www.almahumanitaria.org.
DISCUSSIONS – ANSWERS
a. Road Report courtesy of The Ventana View: Mar 10&11 – La Ventana to Guerro Negro is very good with shoulders and few potholes. 13 hours. From Guerro Negro to the turnoff for Mex 5 were potholes and no shoulders part of the way (less than 2 hrs). The unpaved portion of Mex 5 is much better now and took 1.5 hours instead of the 2.5 in Nov 2017. From the end of the unpaved portion to Mexicali is the same, lots of vados but 4 lane after San Felipe. We reached Mexicali just before 5pm Sunday. Not a good time to cross – we waited in line for 3.5 hours. Go to the bathroom before you get in line. Vendors sell food/trinkets. We recommend the helado carts. A phone app, Bordify, gives you real time updates on crossing wait times. We didn’t know about that until it was too late (Next year!).

b. The “Chata Day” was designed specially to meet the needs of friends and multi-generation families who want to spend an awesome day together on the Sea of Cortez. Our goal is to help our guests experience the best Baja vacation day ever incorporating whales, dolphins, manta rays, turtles, snorkeling plus fishing and lunch at the beautiful, remote Bay of Dreams! Who is “Chata”? Our friend (her real name is Jan Storey) and best client ever (and we have lots of awesome clients!). Twelve years ago she helped us design this day to meet the needs of her family. Husband Woody loves to fish, adult kids love to snorkel, relax and lunch at the Bay of Dream’s remote and unique Gran Sueno Resort. Her grandkids are over the moon with whales and dolphins. Most especially, they all want to be on the water together, enjoying Jacques Cousteau’s world’s aquarium. You too? Us, too, and we’ll make it an awesome day! See our Facebook page at Baja’s Awesome Whales & Dolphins, email combertheresa@hotmail.com or phone 14-10231. Be Awesome!
