Note A: We have a very rare opportunity to see whales frolicking off our coastline during our calm winter days. It is this opportunity that is being abused daily. Our current Humpback mama and calf are being chased and harassed by folks on SUPs and kayaks along with fishing boats and pangas. The stress this causes whales is death to the young calves as they are forced to remain submerged due to the threat of vessels and people. Its a problem. The law clearly states you “may not be within 300’ of any marine mammal, causing them to alter their paths or change their behavior.” Enough said.

Note B: Well here I am again, A day late and a dollar short. Did a whirlwind to San Diego and came home sick! One more nap and I’ll be good as new and all caught up. bpeCheryl

Sad News: On January 16th we said adios to Pam Gray, a 20-year resident of our community. Recently retired from Homes and Land of Baja, Pam was active in the animal rescue community and enjoyed hiking in the local mountains/desert. Donations in her honor may by made to Cortez Rescue (https://cortezrescue.org/) or Barriles Area Trail Stewards (https://www.trailforks.com/region/los-barriles/karma/).
