I’ll be giving another art class
this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday,(3rd, 4th, and 5th) for two
hours each day. The first day I’ll help you prepare the canvas from
a scene I’ll have taken on location. The second day we’ll go the the
location and work with the prepared canvas to paint ‘live’. Friday
we meet again at my house to wrap up the painting and de-program.
500p for the ‘tutorial’ or class. Young folks are free. And that
doesn’t mean if you are 70 and feel like you are 15! Ha!

- I am currently working to have the state tax office located in Los
Barriles. This will mean that you can pay for your driver’s license,
tourist tax, employee state tax, capital gains tax etc at your
convenience in Los Barriles. We will keep you updated regarding
progress.
- We have created a Civil Protection Group. This is a group of 20
people who are dedicated to helping the town in case of emergencies
such as hurricanes. The group includes ambulance services, first aid
and contingency support. In case of emergencies, these are the

- Carnival Season – we are waiting to hear if Fernanda, the girl
that represents Los Barriles in the Carnival La Paz, will be the
overall winner! If she wins, this will be the second year that the
queen of the Carnival La Paz has come from Los Barriles. (2015 was
Kenia).
- The La Paz Carnival starts on February 4th – February 9th and the
big parade is Sunday 7th. Los Barriles will have a car and Kenia,
last year’s winner, will be representing us again in the car. We
will also be promoting Los Barriles as a tourist destination with a
video showing the region, kitesurfing, snorkeling, diving, the
restaurants, hotels and other activities such as ATVs/off-road.
Important Dates:
February 3rd, 4th, 5th – The State Olympics takes place and will see
a number of Los Barriles children representing our town in track and
field, volleyball and soccer.
February 6th – The Los Barriles East Cape 300 registration will be
taking place at Hotel Palmas de Cortez.
February 7th – Los Barriles East Cape 300 race starts at 7am at the
Palmas.
February 13th – The Delegacion team will be selling tickets at the
Community Market for a ‘fishing day’ to raise money to support our
newly formed Civil Protection Group. Tickets are $100 pesos.
February 14th – The ‘Run or Walk for Your Heart’ takes place and
starts in Costa Brava at 7am. There is a $10 dollar donation. Water,
isotonic drinks and t-shirts available. Please support this great
activity with friends and family. (Organized by Los Barriles-Cabo
Del Este Club Deportivo).
February 15th – The Major of La Paz, Armando Martinez, is coming to
Los Barriles with the Governor Carlos Mendoza on February 15th at
5pm. They will be at La Cancha. You are invited to come and meet
with them.
February 20th – The 2016 Los Barriles Carnival Parade in partnership
with Rotary Club starts at 4pm at the ‘barrels’ and finishes at Parc
La Laguna. Come and enjoy the festivities, music, food and see the
Queen of Los Barriles plus the Carnival La Paz dancers.
