ANSWERS - DISCUSSIONS
a.
Thanks to everyone (close to 50) who sent me responses/ and or
wanted to know what I learned as to why my Sirius radio is getting
spotty reception. Here is what I learned:
1. Radios that are Sirius/XM or just XM are working off a different
satellite than strictly Sirius radios. The antennas for those radios
are not adequate to get reception this far south.
2. Some people have installed Sirius antennas, marine antennas, or
other antennas purchased on line or at Best Buy and are getting good
reception, but I am still unclear as to how those antennas are, of
if they can be, attached to factory installed receivers. They will
for sure work on plug in receivers.
3. Sirius Status 7 radio, a plug in, works with the antenna
included.
4. Sirius tech support seems to confirm that the Sirius Status 7
will work. For other radios, they can only guarantee reception 200
miles south of the border, but they have no problem providing
service in Mexico. So, no problem talking to them and telling them
where you are.
