The Rotary Club of Los Barriles Cabo Este continues its fund
raising campaign to help rebuild the East Cape communities
struck by Hurricane Odile. Through our program titled Amigo a
Amigo you can make a difference in our community. Please visit

Amigo a Amigo Hurricane Odile Disaster Relief. The
funds raised by the Rotary Club will be used to help both
economically and physically our communities on the East Cape.

Orphanage in La Paz was slammed by Hurricane Odile and received
considerable damage. One building was completely
demolished. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Besides help rebuilding and
cleaning up, the children there need help with basic needs like
food. The orphanage isn’t supported by any organization. It relies
on donations and on the sales of their wares that they used to make
in their shop - but that was the building that was demolished.
Josefina Ruiz of Seven Seas Property Management in Los Barriles went
there just after the storm to see if they were okay and to see what
was needed. She brought them some food and water at that time, but
said much of the orphanage was in ruins. We have constructed a

pictures that Josefina took when she visited. Money is greatly
needed and you can donate on the fundraiser site, but, if you are in
the area and are able, consider visiting there to see how else you

Cleaning up the mess and repairing the damage are well
under way. Several federal government laws were passed,
including FINANCIAL AID for small and large businesses,
speeding up the appraisal process for insurance claims and
facilities to enable businesses to comply with tax
obligations. Yeah, we wouldn't want to inconvenience the
government by getting those tax payments in the mail in a
tardy fashion.
Every day more stores open and additional supplies of
tools and construction materials are being brought in.
WalMart is open and has groceries, perishables and
basic goods in stock. Its electronics and appliances
departments will remain closed, however, since it was
stripped of all that stuff in the looting. And, WalMart,
while never being a glamour puss store, really looks the
worse for wear now. Well, they've got what we need, and
they're busting their butts to get it to us, even though we
looted them right down to and including the shelves.
Government financing will be made available to the
larger businesses that are fundamental to the tourist
industry in amounts up to $40 million, while smaller
businesses will have access to loans of up to $155,000 with
interest rates no higher than 9.5%.
Small stores will be OFFERED grants of up to $1,200 for
new inventory or basic repairs so they can resume
operations.
Many Los Cabos HOTELS will remain closed for up to two
months as they clean up and repair the mess and the damage.
The major hotels sustained little structural damage but
sand, broken glass and vegetation have found their way into
the rooms, with windows and doors having been torn out by
the strong winds.

To whitelist email senders in Yahoo! mail, there are two things you
can do:

Create a filter to automatically send email from certain domains to
your Inbox. Click Options in the top right navigation bar. Select
Mail Options from the list that drops down. Choose Filters. Click

Spa Buenavista Beach Resort is open and has guests. We also have our
generator turned on in the morning starting at around 7:00 and it
runs till about 11:00. Then we turn it back on around 7:00 at night.
