He's OK!!! Many of you know but for those who
didn't, Allen Mason had a ultra-flight accident a few days ago.
Below is a note from Allen and one from Spence and Carlee
a. Okay, I am stable and finally able give some info. After
putting aircraft together ie, taking it out of trailer, attaching
wings, struts and horizontal stabilizer, doing a complete preflight
and running engine a significant to warm up, I did a few crow hops
and took to the air. I tried to gain enough altitude to make a safe
landing should I have engine trouble. I did have trouble and had
tried to stay over the dry lake bed just east of the runway at Punta
Colarado, but the south wind and low penetration of the ultra light
decreased my flight path, so I pointed the nose down to gain
airspeed. Unfortunately, the unfamiliarity of this aircraft and it's
characters didn't allow me to pull it off unscathed. In other words
CRUNCH ! I am in San Diego at Sharps Memorial Hospitable with one
fractured and one collapsed vertebra a cracked rib and numerous
bruises, with some scrapes. But ! alas !! Doctors told me I could
get by with out Surgery and the use a body brace for three or four
months ! I can do that !!! Please no more cutting on me My deepest
thanks to Char, Chucky and my dearest friends Spence and Carlee. I
know in my heart all of the LOVE that was sent my WAY from all of
you !!! It won't make it any stronger if I keep repeating it,
however I do repeat it to myself over and over. I KNOW God "Jahova"
is working in my life Now, I need some rest !!!
b. Update on Allen. he is being well attended
at Sharp Hospital in SanDiego. Veronica is able to stay with him
there in the hospital..... He will be in a special back brace for a
long while and will begin physical therapy. He can walk!! Internal
injuries were not as serious as first believed!!!!
There are no words to adequately express the appreciation we feel
towards Char at the East Cape Health Clinic. Her knowledge of who to
contact and where to go in the US and the arranging of
transportation was immediate. Without this type of help we could not
take the chance of living our older lives here in Baja. ..whether
the help is at local hospitals or being flown out......Thank you

A couple of us in the neighborhood have noticed a
curious set of animal prints over the years.Lately we've noticed on
a regular basis and closer to the houses than before.Curiosity final
got the best of me.I set out cameras and some canned yellowfin (
complements Luann) .The critter that showed up last night is the
smaller of the two.A very unusual animal to be found in this desert

East Cape on Wednesday, May 14. The first motorcycle leaves La
Paz at 6:00 AM and the first car at 10:00 AM. More information

Once again the time has come for us to close our doors and
wait for the fall season to come around. We like to thank the
east cape communities that has supported our family business for

The easiest cameras to install are the DropCams from
Dropcam.com. They require only 2 minutes to install with a basic
knowledge of computers. They are wireless and must be within a
70' range of the WiFi router. They are NOT out door but I place
mine well under an overhang and protect the power adapter. They
work great in a window. They do use upstream bandwidth, so I
setup their software to work at night. They can be turned on
when away, like when I go sailing. One camera would not use that
much bandwidth. The other cameras are harder to install. You can
make the DropCams private, to specific people or public. I am
going to send you a link from my camera in Tahoe. It sits in the
front window. You will have to create an account at Dropcam.com
to see the camera. Keep this private. Let me know when you're
seen it. By the way, you can talk to the robber and hear him.
