Need some help with this one. On the web it says US Daylight Saving time
starts Sunday, March 14th.
Mexico is Sunday, April 4th which also happens to be Easter Sunday. I would
like someone else to verify. Cheryl

Correction:
The March 4th posting of the link for the petition to get Westjet to add
direct flights to LaPaz didn't work (due to 2 spaces in it). The new one
click link, that should work is:

I was asked if I knew about 7 pangas being taken on the East Cape. I have no
knowledge of this. Does anyone have info? Cheryl

Does anyone know the story on the shrimp boats? I can't believe how close
to the shore they have been the past two days, in front of Mar y Sol. The
snorkeling is so cloudy even on these wonderfully calm and clear days and
I'm sure that it's due to what they're doing. Is it legal, what they're
doing, and if it isn't, is there someone for us to notify? I fear that they
are the reason that the sea lion is gone and that one was found dead at La
Ribera. Post your answer to the pony, please.

QUESTIONS
a. We are driving down from San Diego in the first week of May and need some
tips on what to do, not do, where to stay, not stay etc. Is Otay Mesa going
to be the best place to cross? Right now we are thinking of taking 4 days -
1)San Diego to El Rosario 2)El Rosario to San Ignacio or Santa Rosalia
3)Santa Rosalia to Loreto 4)Loreto to La Ribera. Any help with places to
stay and things to watch out for/avoid would be hugely appreciated. I recall
a long time ago seeing a BPE posting that mentioned a sticker of some sort
that was good to have on your car. Not sure what it was, but seem to recall
it kept you from being hassled as much. Anyone know what that might be?
Thanks in advance for any help.

b. Looking for an enclosed and secure bodega or other storage to keep a
vehicle starting mid-May. Long term deal. I'll only need access 3 times a
year. Need approximately 8 ft by 18-20 ft. 50 coconuts/month would be great.
Why not get some extra coconuts for your unused space?

d. Our AARP Medicare supplement insurance for foreign emergencies only lasts
for 60 days outside of the U.S. We are looking at alternatives since we are
here for most of the year. We would appreciate any information you have on
insurance which covers you while you are here.

e. My computer used to run at 54Mbps, when using email. Now it is usually
24Mbps, which is very slow, often kicking me off. What is Mbps, and what
can I do to get back to the 54Mpbs. As this question implies, I am
computer ignorant, but know it is all of a sudden really slow.

f. For years we have found Advantage Car Rental to be the cheapest car
rental for our trips to the East Cape. Can anyone verify if it is still
located at the airport or has it moved? It used to be located directly
across from the first terminal and parking lot but I have been advised it
may have moved from its original location. Also, has anyone found a cheaper
car rental? We need a car for six days while we are in Spa Buenavista. Any
information would be appreciated. Thanks.

mamakahunas@hotmail.com DOG THEFTS ???
Unless I am mistaken, there have been at least three separate reports in the
BPE within the past 2-3 months of dogs been stolen from in and around Los
Barriles. As the keeper of a beloved pooch, I find this disturbing. Does
anyone have any idea why this is happening? And should we create some kind
of centralized database to gather information about these events? Chris

a. Beautiful little 2003 Coleman Bayside Elite pop-up trailer. The largest
of the pop-up trailers: 26ft, opened up. Even has a little slide-out to
expand the center space. Two huge beds, each larger than a California King.
Screen material all around gives a big open airy feeling; not boxed in like
a hard-sided trailer. Absolutely perfect for down here in the East Cape.
Plant it on your piece of land and live in it. That's what we did for two
years as, right alongside, our house was being built. Or you can travel to
the far reaches of baja and camp in comfort. That's what we did before we
settled on our little piece of paradise just north of Los Barriles. Or you
can park it next to your bodega, all neatly buttoned up and ready to serve
as very plush and roomy guest quarters for envious visitors. Or just tell
bothersome reality to buzz off, get a sack of rice and a sack of beans, park
yourself on Northbeach, and fish til you can't remember what month
it is. (Best to remember to move to higher ground in hurricane season
though, lest you get washed out to sea.) It's used, but all the important
stuff works just fine. Asking 2500 burritos, but hey, let's haggle. Jeff
