FIDO ALERT!

Saturday night, while dark moon star gazing beachfront at the center of the mouth of the Buena Vista arroyo, a huge, female black lap appeared from the dark and collapsed at our feet. She had clearly been traveling, was wet, and breathing very hard, seems a bit elderly, and I don't think I've ever seen her before. There were also fireworks tonight, so perhaps that gave her a fright. She's slightly gray on the paws and muzzle, plus a bit stiff legged. She was very thirsty, consumed lots of food, then layed down and is quietly sleeping. She has a faded red color, no tags. We're calling her 'Lady', because she seems like one. She's at the East Cape RV Resort in the Palapa Casita #46 along with our dogs. I'll be on a "Sunday to Suenos Coast Cruise", so if she's yours and you're looking for her, please leave me a note that she's found her family. If not, please contact combertheresa@hotmail.com  or 14-10673 or 14-10231.

a. June's birthstones are alexandrite and more affordably, pearls. Some legends and lore around pearls are: Indian mythology believed them to be heavenly dewdrops that fell into the sea and were caught by shellfish under the first rays of the rising sun during a period of a full moon, a belief adopted by the Europeans. According to Hebrew legend, pearls are the tears shed by Eve when she was banished from Eden. For the ancient Chinese, pearls represented wealth, honor and longevity. Pearls were widely used as medicine in Europe until the 17th century. The lowest grade pearls are still ground and used as medicine in the Orient. It has been used in the treatment of digestive orders, to treat the soft organs of the body and to increase fertility and ease of childbirth. Also the pearl is known as the "stone of sincerity".
Alexandrite is in the chrysoberyl mineral family. It was discovered in 1830 in an emerald mine in Russia during Czar Alexander's rule. Hence the name. It was immediately regarded as a stone of good omen. Alexandrite is one of the most dramatic color changing gems on the planet. It has very distinct red or green hues depending on the light source. It also occurs as a Cat's Eye (caused by fine needle inclusions) and is extremely rare. It is regarded as having regenerative power, providing the impetus to expedite the changing of ones world. Medicinally it has been used in the treatment of disorders of the spleen, testicles and pancreas. It has helped to improve diseases of the nervous system.
