~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Friday, Oct. 30, Ruby, along with Grandson Nick Grubbs, will hold a memorial service for her husband, Bill Grubbs at 4:30 PM on the beach of La Capilla. Enter off the highway as if you were going to Rancho Leonaro. Look for fluorescent tape streamers on bushes that will lead you to the beach.
Bill always loved the La Capilla RV Park, and was one of the earliest residents. Please join us Friday in this celebration of his life and the sharing of some of your memories.
Afterwards, we will meet at one of Bill and Ruby's favorite spots, Japones Hamburger place. This is between the Buena Vista Primary School and the Potato Corral on the left side of the highway driving toward Los Barriles and across the street from a grocery store.
Questions ? call Lyn Ziething 141-0540 znbaja@yahoo.com
Will be home Thursday, Wednesday is Costco day !
By the end of this month, Starband has said it will end new service on the G27 satellite at 129° and move its customers to a newer satellite, G23, at 121° The G23 satellite cannot be seen from Baja California Sur. Some Starband customers have been able to work through their original dealer to retain service on G27 but this varies by dealer. I recommend you contact your original dealer and see if they can help you.
Other alternatives to Starband in BCS include HughesNet and iDirect-based VSAT systems - Alan, alan@BajaSatellite.com
BORDER & BAJA ONE
       a. There is a small shopping mall just at the border (on the right) and you can pay ($5 last time we were there) to park here and walk across to get your papers, too. Not only do you have to get your papers from Migracion, but you have to go to a bank to pay for them and get them stamped...the bank will not be open before 9 a.m. Bank used to be right across the street, but last year that had changed, so you may have a little walk.
We often stay at Potrero County Park the night before entering Tecate so we can get an early start, or even go in the day before to get the paperwork done so we can breeze through on entry without stopping (hopefully). That's super-easy if you have a Toad. Potrero is just a couple of miles from Tecate.
Bien Viaje!
       b. If you park just before the gate at Tecate and walk across to immigracion to get your FMT, (and walk down and back up the hill from the bank), remember that you have left the States, and you must return through US Customs. If you simply walk back to your car without doing the customs thing, you could be in for a surprise.
